Do we really need flagship devices?

Before we start,I would like to put two things out of the way:
1. I just added a forum to the blog,so kindly join it and post topics like this one

 Do we really need flagships?

A really good flagship with a variable arpeture

You know, come to think of it. Companies like Apple and Samsung and other companies can create new devices that literally have everything, and sell them at prices that can change your life. For example, the iPhone X sells at 520000 naira on Jumia.(it'll probably be more expensive elsewhere). Just for the record, that's someone's University fee for a whole year at a public University.
So,there would be certain questions you would have to ask yourself before we can answer that question, and I'll list them.

Question 1
Do you need all the features a flagship provides?
So sure,a flagship offers all the latest and greatest features. But do you really need your phone to come with a design that makes it look like it came from the future while other normal looking phones can do the job the flagship does equally? Nah,you probably don't.
Don't get me wrong. Flagships are not created for every and anyone,so if you can't afford it,it probably wasn't meant for you. I know I can't afford any of the flagship devices I review here,as most of them are provided by Jumia, and taken back just 3 days after.
So,back to the question. Yes,the features a flagship provides are cool and all,but you really don't need them all when all you'll end up doing with the phone is facebook and Instagram anyway.
But......for Facebook and Instagram,you'll need a good camera,and flagships offer that right?Right??
But a certain class of people do need all the features:like businessmen and women, professional photographers and anyone who has a 9 to 5 job. They need the power to work efficiently, and this is by far the biggest justification for the unholy prices of flagships.

Question 2
Are there any alternatives?
The answer to this question is yes. There are always alternatives, but you'll most likely be blinded by the iris unlock or glass on glass body that that alternative becomes irrelevant. But there are good alternatives. The Asus Zenfone 5(Review) is by far the worthiest mid range competitor to the iPhone X,bested only by the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro(which sports the same chip and a notchless design) .You see, these phones aren't regarded as flagships per se,but for $500 and $300 respectively, they perform basic features excellently well. No flagship needed.
The Zenfone 5 is the closest notch sporting midrange phone to the iPhone X

(Oh and by the way,the Xiaomi supports Face unlock, and it's 1.5 times faster than th one on the Galaxy S9 ,even in pitch darkness, despite it using a software based implementation)

Wrap up
Those are just my thoughts on why you shouldn't own a flagship if you don't have to. Sure, they're flashy and you'll be the big boy in your group, but there would be a deep hole burnt in your pocket, and if you dare spoil it......
Anyway,i don't(and can't) know all,so please don't hesitate to se the comments or sign up for the forum. And also please subscribe and like our page on Facebook. Thanks for stopping by.
