HTC U12: Rumors and possible specs

In this post which would be regularly updated as we learn more,we will be taking a closer look at the upcoming HTC U12.

Last year,HTC released the HTC U11,and it was quite a great smartphone. It had very cool cameras
and whatnot, and who can ever forget the 'squeeze to open up Google Assistant?' But the S8 overshadowed this undeniably great phone, and you and I went out and spent our money on the Galaxy S8 instead of buying the U11. Why? Well,it's dated design was one factor. Sure it had that alluring glass build you just can't get enough of,and a nice and sturdy build. But,the design was still dated. Most of HTC's flagships before the U11 used that design. Also,it didn't have a dual camera setup. Sure, the S8 didn't have one either, but it did refresh the design of the S7 before it,so we went for that one instead.

HTC U12

But HTC aims to change all those negatives with the launch of the HTC U12(at least that's what we think they would call it). The phone will have to be a big improvement over the U11 for anyone to take notice of it. They would really need to up their design game, change that crappy software and stop trying to cram gimmicky features that no one will ever use into their phones.
So what exactly are those big improvements? Here's everything we know so far.

HTC U12: Release date and name

There is no official word on what HTC would be calling the U11's successor. In fact, this post is labelled HTC U12 based on pure instinct alone. There are rumors that suggest that HTC could call the phone the HTC U12 Plus instead of the HTC U12,but as always with rumors,it should be taken with a grain of salt.
But the next HTC could be called the HTC U12 Plus because from the rumored specs,it's clearly out with the Galaxy S9  Plus in mind
As regards the release date,it has been speculated that the U12 will be released on the 23rd of May. Fingers crossed on that one

HTC U12: Specs and possible features

The HTC U12 is likely to have a 6 inch display with a QHD+ resolution. In fact, anything short of that is completely unacceptable in 2018. We have been spoiled with the best from Samsung,Apple and Asus,so HTC shouldn't spoil the fun.Of course the aspect ratio should be a modern 18:9 and it shouldn't go the Pixel 2 route.
Also, the processor is most likely to be a Snapdragon 845 chipset. It should also come with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 64 or 128BG of onboard storage. HTC's second-gen version of Edge Sense software is most likely also present again. What this does is that it allows you to squeeze the phone to launch certain apps. However there is no word on how Edge Sense's second generation iteration improves over the 1st gen version.

Also,4 cameras are rumored to be present on the U12. Possibly two at the front and another pair at the back. Or they could go Huawei's way and slap 3 at the back. Now,the rear cameras are rumored to be 12MP and 16MP sensors. No word on the manufacturers, arpeture size or pixel size.
Additionally, the front cameras are rumored to be two 8MP cells, which is something you won't find on the majority of the phones this one would be targeted after.

The HTC U12 could come with HTC's own take on facial recognition called Face Sense

The HTC U12 is most likely to run on Android Oreo, though Android P is already in the works. It is also rumored to come with Face Sense, which is HTC's own Face Recognition. It is also rumored to pack a 3,420 mAh battery. On the battery side, things don't look too impressive as most of it's competitors have phones with larger capacity batteries. For instance Huawei's Mate 10 and P20 Pro both sport 4000mAh batteries, and still have as many specs as the U12 is rumored to have. But this is where we hope the rumors are false.
The U12 is also rumored to feature an IP68 water and dust resistance rating and also wireless charging. There's also rumors of it having no headphone jack, but that's basically a standard nowadays.

Now to the deciding factor-the price
HTC's flagship for 2018 is rumored to cost somewhere in the $650-$700 region. Not that that's cheap as it converts to around 190000-200000 naira. But with all the specs it is rumored to offer, you can't say it's not worth every penny.
