Here are the 5 key features every 'great' smartphone should have(2107)
If you're conversant with this blog,I do this topic every year. I've only been around for a year(November will make it a year) and the reason I do this is to make phone manufacturers understand what consumers want. I do this every year because technology improves every day,and we need to keep up. Last year,I would have added 'a great processor' but even budget phones (think budget as in 60000 naira up,not 10-15k oh)have been able to give out great processing power(like the HOT S and Camon C9) for a decent price. So,here are the five key features a great smartphone should have:
1. A great Camera
A great camera is a must have for any phone touting greatness. It's not about megapixels, I already stated that here. It's about the quality. Camera technology has been on a constant rise, but some OEMs(take Tecno Mobile for example) have decided to play the megapixel race and release phones with bogus megapixel count that don't offer anything far from good 8MP cameras. HTC has developed the ultrapixel, and Samsung the Stack cell. Sony still remains the best maker for cameras, and most OEMs go to them for their cells. So,if a 'great smartphone' doesn't have this key feature, it can't be called great.
2. Great battery life
Infinix still remains the king of this part,as far as I know. The HOT 4 lasts longer than the OP3. But,a great battery life is really nothing if the battery doesn't charge quick. One plus has done this with DashCharge™,and this essentially pumps 4A of current into the battery, instead of the regular 2A.
So,a great battery and the ability to charge that battery in less than an hour. Again,OnePlus nails it here.
I just noticed that I've been including OnePlus 3 in all my statements. That phone really hit me. It's the best phone I've used this year. If you haven't read the review, get it here.
3. Great design
Okay. Samsung is the king here, with the S8 being the most intelligently designed phone of 2017. If you don't feel inspired when you pick your phone up,then there is really no need.
4. A great software experience
I guess this one goes to Xiaomi. MiUI is one of the most sophisticated pieces of software I have ever used. And it does this without trying. It looks a lit like iOS,sure, but it outperforms iOS in most features. Or it's just flashier, you be the judge. But,a great phone must have a great software.
5. Finally,a great phone must have...
A great customer care. Yes,and Infinix takes the cake here. Their customer care is excellent, and they push updates quickly(most of their 2016 offerings already have nougat)and they sell original accessories. If you have a phone with the features of numbers 1-4 ,and you don't have this, you are really missing. This is the case with imported phones.
There you have it. If you have any additions, feel free to post them in the comments section. Thanks for stopping by.
