So,you've probably heard about the Galaxy S9(Review). It's the new Samsung device that doesn't have any new features. So,you may have been planting your hopes on the Galaxy S9 to be your new phone for 2018,but since it isn't new enough, you have to put your eye somewhere else. But exactly where is somewhere else? Well, that's what I hope to answer in this review. So,here are the best Galaxy S9 alternatives.
If you love the Galaxy S9's features, but you don't want to pay so much of a premium for it,then the Snapdragon 835 packing Galaxy S8 is your key. And it's much more affordable now, starting at just over 150000 naira on Jumia. And since the Galaxy S9 isn't much different from the S8 anyway,it should have been your first choice after all.Sure, sure, the Galaxy S9 features the newer, admittedly faster Snapdragon 845(I haven't,and wont be able to test this version of the smartphone,I've been stuck with the Exynos version, which I'll return anyway) and has more RAM,but with a software update, same camera hardware(save for the variable arpeture of course),same infinity design and same battery capacity, the Galaxy S8 is a very good alternative. And at a lower price,it's much more enticing now.

Best Galaxy S9 Alternatives
1. iPhone X
Any Apple fan reading this would be very, very happy. They have tried to prove all over social media that the iPhone X can do things better than the Galaxy S9. Well,I haven't used the iPhone X long enough to tell whether that's true, but the iPhone X is the best alternative to the Galaxy S9. The Apple branded Animoji is much better than Samsung's AR Emoji, and the Face ID feature, slow as it is,is much faster than the Intelligent scan feature on the Samsung, which is horrendously slow. And the front camera on the X shoots portrait photos much better than the S9. So this is probably the best Galaxy S9 alternative. Starting at $1000,it's not cheap, but neither is the Galaxy S9. Verdict? This is the best alternative to the Galaxy S9. Period.
2. Galaxy S8
If you love the Galaxy S9's features, but you don't want to pay so much of a premium for it,then the Snapdragon 835 packing Galaxy S8 is your key. And it's much more affordable now, starting at just over 150000 naira on Jumia. 3. Google Pixel 2(and Pixel 2 XL)
If you hate Bixby, hate Samsung Experience, hate oversharpened images, hate the fingerprint sensor placement, hate too many gimmicks and just love pure Android, get the Google Pixel 2. Starting at just over 300000 naira,it's not cheap, but the S9 is not cheap either. And the Pixel 2 is just pure bliss. It runs pure Android, has a better camera, even though it's last year's flagship, and doesn't have Bixby. Instead,it has the extremely useful Google Assistant, which offers more help than the Bixby Assistant. But,one caveat is the screen burn in,and the much uglier and larger bezels. But it's advantages greatly outweigh it's disadvantages, and it is a one of the best alternatives to the Galaxy S9.
Alternatively, you could hold out for the Pixel 3,which will be out this year. It'll cost more than this one,but it'll definitely be better than the Galaxy S9.
4. OnePlus 5T
OnePlus has been known to offer the very best of specs for one of the lowest prices available. And the OnePlus 5T is no exception. It offers the Snapdragon 35 processor,a very good screen,6GB of RAM and the best Android skin to date. And even though the screen isn't as amazing as the S9's and it only sports a 1080p display,it does other things well, just as well as the S9. and at just over 200000 Naira, the OnePlus 5T is the best bargain and the best Galaxy S9 alternative. Alternatively, you could wait for the OnePlus 6 which will be coming out this year. But beware,it has a notch!
5. iPhone 8
The iPhone makes it to the list again. Starting at 300000 naira,it's almost the same price as the S9,but what you get is substantially better. Sure, you'll lose the OLED panel, crispy display,18:9 aspect ratio and variable arpeture, but you'll be getting a high quality camera(with a dual camera if you spring for the Plus model),the fastest chipset in the world and you'll be getting access to the iOS ecosystem, the most refined operating system today.
6. Sony Xperia XZ2
You don't hear about Sony a lot in this part of the world, but the Xperia XZ2 is undoubtedly one of the best Galaxy S9 alternatives today. It has the Snapdragon 845 chip, and a crazy slow motion video recording at 960 fps. It also does this at 1080p,much better than the Galaxy S9's 720p. It also has a modern 18:9 aspect ratio, and that slo mo is awesome. It hasn't officially launched, but when it does,it'll be one of the best Galaxy S9 alternatives.
So there you have it. The best Galaxy S9 alternatives present right now. And you can get them all at Jumia.com.ng,Nigeria's largest online store. You could also read or post on how to choose a smartphone in 2018 to clarify more things.
