Xiaomi Redmi S2 Specifications
Xiaomi Redmi S2 Specs
Before I list the specs,I want to let out a few thoughts:
The Xiaomi Redmi S2 has had a lot of leaks in the past few weeks, and we probably know all it's specs way before it's launch on Thursday. This has probably got to have been the most leaked smartphone to date, topping even the Galaxy S9,which we reviewed here,so much that it even appeared on AliExpress,China's leading online store.
But that leak also conveniently gave us the specifications and design language.
First,we see the nicely designed and eye catching antenna lines ,and the vertically aligned dual camera set-up. Only God knows where they got that idea from, right?
We also have the fingerprint sensor alignment which isn't anything new by the way. And yes,it'll probably be fast.
Now,the listing on AliExpress also shows us the screen size and resolution. And it's pretty bad. It's a 5.99 inch 720*1440 screen. Now,the fact that this is only HD+ resolution may seem like a big deal, but it would probably only cost so much,so you have no right to complain. It's also a modern 18:9 panel,so wider when in landscape, taller when in portrait.
Also,we see the return of the tried and tested Snapdragon 625 Processor. So basically you're getting 2016 performance in 2018. Before you complain, remember that this will be priced competitively. Also on the performance side of things, there's 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage as the base model. Pretty impressive.Do note that there is no information on whether or not there would be more storage and RAM variants.
For photography, there are 2 familiarly arranged cameras. One is a 12 MP primary and the other is a 5 MP secondary. No word on whether the secondary lens is used for producing the bokeh effect or is monochrome. Probably the former, hopefully the latter. There's a 16 MP selfie shooter in front. The phone also possesses AI Portrait and AI Beauty features. Maybe the S stands for Selfies? We'll know on Thursday.
Lastly, the battery is a 3080 mAh unit. There is also Android 8.1 Oreo with MiUi 9.5 on top of it.
We'll be updating this post during and after the launch on Thursday. Stay tuned!
