Why a curved screen?

Curved screens are no longer new. Samsung has been doing them for a while now,and others have joined with 2.5D glass. Even the iPhone 7 has a curved screen. But,the question is why?

1. They improve immersion
This is the biggest argument made in favour of curving phone and TV screens. The idea is that by curving the image slightly forward, the world you’re watching seems to ‘wrap around’ you more, entering slightly more into your peripheral vision and thus drawing you deeper into the world you’re watching.
Imagine watching a 3D movie on a flat screen. It wouldn't really do justice to it,no matter how high quality the screen is.

2. They just look cool
It's really cool to press(and recently write) on screens that just don't follow the pattern of being flat. It really is.

3. They enhance contrast
This is an interesting one. The argument goes that curved screens focus the light coming from the screen more directly at your eyes – in much the same way satellite dishes strengthen signals by focussing them onto an LNB – and so can deliver between 1.5x and 1.8x higher contrast than flat screens. That explains why the S8's screen will forever be better than the iPhone 7's screen. The light coming from the sides tends to bend into your eyes, leading to a brighter image entirely.

4. You get a wider field of view
Bending the edges of the image towards you makes you feel as if you’re seeing a wider image than you get with a flat screen. This one works mostly with TVs,as phones just aren't large enough to implement this, and also don't hang on a wall.

These are just a couple of reasons why a curved screen would be better than a flat one. Thanks for stopping by.
